Thought I'd share some of my favorite places to photograph.  These aren't my all time favorites, but close to it. I still want to go out and explore more places and new locations.

  • My favorite place to photograph of all- your backyard! If you’ve got a little bit of space to work with, your backyard could be the best place to photograph. You and your family live there, that means you’re already familiar with the location. Most importantly- you’re comfortable! Meeting at a new location, sometimes a place you rarely visit, if at all, can be a little nerve racking. Staying home means more smiles from the kids. The downside to this is the kids are TOO comfortable and may not want to sit still. But that’s why I bring a few tricks to help that situation!

  • Another great place I like to try out is the field down the road. Any field down from you, me, anywhere open and not currently full of produce! It’s simple. It’s open. And it allows kids to explore some and spread out! It’s got neutral colors so it’s easy to dress for. These sessions are usually in the fall when fields have been harvested. The sunlight and changing of the trees make it even more fantastic.

  • I like the look and feel of the road on County Line. There’s a bridge that’s great for a more classic touch to photos. The road is covered by the trees on either side and before the bridge it turns a bit. SO the bridge can be hidden. But in early summer and late fall the trees that overhang the road become a magical place! Especially when the breeze hits and leaves fall all around! I’ve only had the chance to photograph there once, but would love to go again with some kids and capture their smiles!

  • McCloud Nature Park. I’ve explored this park quite a bit because I live nearby. It’s got several bridges to choose from that look great for senior photos. Not only that but it’s got hiking trails, a play area, a gazebo, and Big Walnut Creek. There are multiple spots along the creek you can venture down to and get some great shots on the smooth rocks, or catch the kids playing in the water! This park has a little bit of everything. And the colors in every season are beautiful!

Those are my top four places to photograph. They aren’t my ONLY places. I have a handful more, and I have many more I’d like to visit and try. Any place you have a family photo session can be made to look amazing. So even if you don’t agree with any of my four favorites as long as you’ve got the location, I’ve got the talent. What’s your favorite place? That spot that’s beautiful to you every time you see it? Let me know your favorites in the comments. Book your family session with me and lets capture that place.
